BrAIve Program at SMA

FREE Mental Health Services in Volusia and Flagler Counties for

Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and

Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) Veterans and their Family Members

SMA offers Individual, Family, and Group Mental Health Therapy for OEF/OIF Veterans and Families to be deployed, currently deployed, or returned with a military ID or a copy of your DD214.  Deployment after 9/11/01 with proof of activity OEF or OIF or a Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal listed on their DD214 is required for this FREE service.

War affects each person differently.  Emotional pain and sadness are common when a person has suffered major trauma or personal loss in a time of war.  It may take some service members and their families time to readjust.  The inability to effectively manage life during this period can create a great deal of stress, anxiety, frustration, and anger.  SMA will help the family Build Resilience to adapt to adversity, trauma, tragedy or other stressors.

The grant that Stewart-Marchman-Act, The House Next Door, The Mental Health Association, and Serenity House recieved through the United Way provides individual therapeutic mental health services or family counseling and provides support groups for families through group therapy sessions.  In addition, support groups especially for children will be offered in the two county areas.  Serenity House will also be able to provide residential substance abuse treatment for up to 3 months for veterans.
